Like many people who learn Korean, I've been a huge fan of Korean pop music and I've always wanted to be able to understand the lyrics of my favorite songs just by listening to them. After a bit of time I was able to recognize some words in a song, and maybe even a whole line, but that wasn't enough for me. I wanted to sing along with them. So I began searching, and luckily I found this amazing blog.
The blog doesn't only offer lessons for learning Korean, but also offers lessons for learning about K-pop songs. The songs are sorted according to their date of release, so it wasn't hard for me to look up my favorite songs.
I chose Exo's "Overdose" to begin. As you can see, the blog gives a translation of each word in a verse and then explains further about the grammatical structure, like adjectives or verb conjugations.
I started studying there and I can assure you that studying this way has never been more fun.
After I finished my studies, I took a timed quiz offered at the blog, which tests whether or not I understood the lyrics. As for me, I studied the lyrics, memorized them all by heart, and I got a perfect score.
Now I can sing along with Exo! My next target will be Red Velvet's "Ice Cream Cake" and it won't end there.
