Art is the mirror of the nation. Art is one of the important ways to convey civilization, heritage and history to mankind. It's one of the most important things that human beings have left on Earth, and helps to develop humanity for the better. The ideas of artists have shown the inventions and technological inventions that have made life easier for humans. Some artists have already contributed to this development through direct innovations. Through the arts, civilization and the extent of its progress are measured. The most important measurement that ancient civilizations left to humanity is the arts, sculpture, photography and many others.
In recent years, there has been an inflow of Korean pop music and TV shows across the world. It began in a small part of East Asia and has since spread to the world, including to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas. Korean pop culture products range from TV dramas, movies, K-pop and break dancing all the way through to videogames, food, fashion, tourism and language.

Korean soap operas have helped spread Korean arts and language. Soap opera TV series have spread throughout the world in a short time. They have lots of followers of all races and ages. The need to translate Korean soap operas is really quite necessary. Many fans of all things Korean, who follow and watch Korean TV shows, movies and news about their stars, watch it on websites. No one actually watches traditional, normal TV. So many broadcasters have decided to air these soap operas. Some of them are dubbed into local languages and some of them are translated with subtitles. What's the reaction of the audience that watches these shows? This is why we've gathered the opinions of many fans in the Arabic-speaking world.
We asked some of Egyptian fans about liking Korea soap operas, either translated or dubbed. Many Korean soap opera followers answered that they prefer the translated soap operas with subtitles. We asked about the reason for choosing translated soap operas. They said the subtitles keep the language intact and help those who want to learn Korean faster. There's no similarly between the Korean language and the Arabic language so dubbing the voices loses some of the reality, unlike Turkish soap operas where the majority of Arabic viewers prefer them when dubbed because the two languages are so similar to each other. For Indian soap operas, both translations and dubbing are suitable. These were the opinions of the Arab viewing public.

In terms of media cooperation between Egypt and Korea, Egyptian television broadcast a second Korean soap opera, “A Thousand Days' Promise" (천일의 약속), after a long break after the first Korean soap opera, “Winter Sonata" (겨울연가), which was broadcast in 2005. It was shown on the second channel every evening. The story revolves around a woman who gradually loses her memory. The man, who loves her sincerely, remains with her until the end. The soap opera is translated with subtitles into Arabic, ensuring that it is broadcast with Korean audio and with the voices of the actors being heard on screen. Park Jae Yang, the media and cultural counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Egypt and director of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt, said that this soap opera was given to Egyptian broadcasters in May and is considered to be the beginning of cooperation between Egyptian and Korean TV channels. For Arabic-language viewers who want to watch their favorite dubbed Korean soap operas, you can watch it on channel MBC 4. At a symposium held at the Korean Film Festival 2017 at the Cairo Opera House, the audience asked Park to reopen a Korea TV channel, which was broadcasting Korean soap operas with Arabic subtitles. Also they asked MBC 4 to broadcast subtitled Korean soap operas so they could enjoy the true watching experience of Korean soap operas.

Even in Syria, it all started with one channel called "Korea TV." The first foreign channel in Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa that opened in 2009, it was the first time for the Syrian people to learn anything about Korea. All the programs were translated with subtitles into Arabic, in addition to promoting famous Korean products. The channel included a large number of programs that covered the interest of many viewers who had grown interested over recent years in foreign dramas dubbed into Arabic -- like Turkish dramas -- or Asian dramas, translated into Arabic with subtitles.
Syrian viewers fell in love with the pop culture and the country itself, but unfortunately that channel is now gone. After that, channel MBC4 started to broadcast some Korean dramas dubbed into Arabic. It was amazing for us. Then Syrian viewers started to watch all the series and shows on the internet, even though a war has been raging there for six years. When I asked people in Syria about Korean TV, I was surprised by the number of people who knew everything about many Korean shows. I asked whether they preferred translated subtitles or dubbed shows. Some 90 percent of them prefer translated subtitles because they love to hear the original language of the actors and stars, and, I hope, because they want to learn the Korean language through the shows.
Like any other country, India is also influenced by the growth in exportable Korean pop culture. There are many people in India who watch Korean soap operas at various websites. The first Korean TV show dubbed into Hindi was "Emperor of the Sea" (해신). It was aired on DD National in 2006, and re-named "Samundar ka Baadshah" in Hindi. Later, another drama was dubbed into Hindi. "The Legendary Doctor Heo Jun" (허준) aired on DD Bharti in 2014, and was re-named "Dr. Hur Jun ki Sachhi Dastan" in Hindi. These soap operas were very successful. However, after those dubbed series, the soap opera that drew the most Indian attention toward Korea was "Descendants of the Sun" (태양의 후예).
Here you can see a preview for "Descendants of the Sun" in Hindi on channel Zindagi TV.

The show aired on Zindagi TV in February and March 2017. After it got many requests, both to Zindagi TV and to the Korean Cultural Center in India, people demanded that they bring more dubbed Korea TV shows to the Hindi market.
At first, hearing that that show was dubbed into Hindi, many people who had not seen the original show in Korean were a little apprehensive that dubbing the drama would lose some of its essence. Thankfully, opposite to this apprehension, the dubbed version was successful.
It seems that this has opened the gate for other Korean TV shows to be dubbed into Hindi. After asking a few people about the viewing experience of Korean dramas either dubbed or with subtitles, I found that many youngsters prefer their soap operas with original audio and are afraid that dubbing would take away something from the show. Also, they are interested in the Korean language and prefer Korean TV shows with subtitles. Mind you, they are also happy when dramas are dubbed into Hindi. Very few of those youngsters interviewed prefer the dubbed versions. People in middle-age, however, do prefer to watch dubbed dramas.
"Descendants of the Sun" is a soap opera about a soldier and a doctor who fall in love amid the chaos of war and disaster. Along with the romantic premise, it also deals with the conflicting emotions among the couple, i.e., the soldier who is always ready to give his life and to take others’ lives and the doctor who has taken an oath to save lives regardless of their nationality or creed.
This drama also shows the challenging life of soldiers and their sacrifices and love for their fellow soldiers. This drama made Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo into household names.
